The World Cup is approaching its start with only 400 days in the countdown, and excitement for football is beginning to grow among Mexican fans. The Government of Mexico City, in an effort to involve the population in this great sporting event, plans to hold various tournaments in the 16 boroughs to promote the sport and increase interest in the World Cup 2026, which will be held at the Azteca Stadium.

The Head of Government, Clara Brugada, has presented the 'World City' project, which aims to prepare the city to welcome visitors and local fans during the World Cup. One of the initiatives of this plan is to carry out the 'Greeting the World Cup', with the goal of breaking the Guinness Record for the largest wave in the world.

In a press conference, Brugada called on thousands of fans to join this initiative, which is part of the strategy to create a festive and welcoming atmosphere in the Mexican capital during the celebration of the tournament. Additionally, the creation of the Fan Fest and other events is planned to enhance the World Cup experience.

"The idea is to create a wave from the Zócalo to the Azteca Stadium along the Calzada de Tlalpan; we want to show that Mexico City is a place full of passion for football and make a mark with the participation of the citizenry in the organization of this event," expressed Brugada.
